July 2025 - Social Protection and Water Security Results Workshop led by Urbanus Azupogo, PhD candidate – Upper West Region, Ghana.

Photos from our stakeholder workshop in Ghana’s Upper West Region, where we shared study findings on how the LEAP social protection programme, alongside safe water access, can strengthen women’s agency and reduce vulnerability. One key result highlighted was that LEAP recipients experienced a 6.21 point reduction in water insecurity, pointing to the value of integrating social protection with WASH investments and services.

April 26, 2025 - Knowledge Translation Workshop on Early Childhood Education & Service Access for Black Children and Families in Kinston and London – Led by Dr Kangmennaang

This project brought together parents, early childhood educators, service providers, and researchers from across Kingston and London, Ontario to share their experiences regarding the challenges they faced in accessing childcare services. During the one-day workshop, participants shared their experiences and suggested ways that children and parents could take advantage of existing facilities and services within the Kingston and London areas, and Canada at large. Some policy and research related recommendations, on how to address some of the challenges faced, were also made for further consideration.

2021 to 2024 - Community Engaged Palliative Care and Chronic Disease workshops led by Erynn Monette in Dangriga, Belize

This project developed and sustained community partnerships in Stann Creek District, Belize, to co design a community research program centered on locally defined priorities. Working with the Dangriga Town Council, Stann Creek Palliative Care, and a community advisory committee of leaders, patients, providers, and family caregivers, the project advanced a community palliative care study through participatory data collection, regular reporting to a town task force, local student research assistant hiring, and community and national knowledge sharing. Building on these relationships, the project also convened Type 2 diabetes engagement workshops with a local clinic and Nurse Practitioner Cheryl Stephen to capture community perspectives and shape future research directions.

February 2024 - Knowledge Dissemination Workshop on Community Adolescent Treatment Supporters in HIV Care led by Darby Whittaker, MSC Student – Kumasi, Ghana

This full day dissemination workshop shared findings from research on the roles and lived experiences of community adolescent treatment supporters (CATS) in Kumasi, Ghana. The event brought together more than 20 cross sector stakeholders from clinical care, public health, epidemiology, government, and academia to discuss common themes across clinic settings, identify priority areas emerging from the evidence, and build collaborative pathways for strengthened HIV and AIDS programming and future research.

May 2023- Mobilizing relevant stakeholders to address diabetes risk and management in marginally exposed populations – Led by Dr Kangmennaang

This project brought together a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, dieticians, health professionals, educators, diabetes organizations, and policy makers to facilitate partnerships and identify common interests for funding opportunities. The project co-developed research priorities and co-created intervention to creating supportive environments for diabetes management in Ghana.
