Brief bio 

Mary Ajayi is an MSc candidate in Health Promotion interested in Black health, the social determinants of health, inequalities/inequities in health, inadequate access to healthcare, and the factors that influence this, such as intersectionality. Her thesis focuses on the barriers and facilitators to accessing Early Learning and Childcare services for Black children and their families in Kingston and London, ON.  

 

Mary completed her BSc (Hon.) in Health Sciences with a Biology minor at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2021. Her MSc research is supported by an SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship and as a young Black woman who has faced many instances of health inequity, her primary focus is on producing change within her community and other similarly affected marginalized groups.
